Here are a few short samples of my audio work.

Fresh Perspectives: I find that some of my favorite podcast episodes are actually quite simple. This one was built from a single interview with a dynamic, knowledgeable guest who had an interesting take. I liked that Kishore Mahbubani was so relatable, and also that his viewpoint — that in many ways China has already surpassed the United States — was not one commonly shared here at home.

Painting Pictures With Sound: In this episode, we interviewed historian Michael Hussey as he was researching whether enslaved men had helped to erect the building that houses the National Portrait Gallery. My goal was to take listeners back to 1837, when Washington D.C. was a backwater with an active slave trade, not the impressive city we know today.

Original Openers: We were looking for an interesting way to tell the story of U.S. sanctions on Iran, something that would put listeners right there on the ground. I worked with local reporter Fatemeh Jamalpour to come up with something based on the personal ads. After she’d gathered more information I mapped out the opener. Then we interviewed her about her reporting and I mixed it into this opener.
