Ruth Morris
Journalist / Audio Producer
I’m an award-winning, bilingual journalist (Spanish/English) and audio producer with a deep background in foreign reporting and narrative storytelling. Most recently, I was the senior producer on the Webby-nominated Portraits podcast from the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery.
I got my start as a print and radio reporter in Bogota, Colombia, covering that country’s punishing civil conflict. Later assignments took me to Israel, Indonesia, China and Haiti. My work has appeared in The Los Angeles Times, Time magazine, The Independent, the BBC and PRX’s The World. I also covered immigration for The South Florida Sun-Sentinel and staffed the paper’s Havana bureau.
My love for radio eventually took the wheel and I turned to audio full time. During the last 10 years I’ve led production on a wide range of podcast series, covering everything from national security to climate migration to portraiture and American identity. I’m especially drawn to work that involves deep reporting, fresh takes, and the kind of small, personal details that really connect.
